Halifax, MA is less than 30 miles from Boston, the Massachusetts State Capital, and New England’s largest city. Boston is arguably one of the best cities in the US. Halifax is also just an hour’s drive from Providence, RI.
Halifax, MA is a few minutes drive from America’s Hometown, Plymouth with its expansive shopping centers, historic waterfront, and landmarks that date back to the landing of the pilgrims in 1620. While taking in America’s birthplace, be sure to enjoy the whale watching and deep sea fishing boat trips, harbor sightseeing, and dozens of waterfront seafood restaurants.
Halifax, MA isn’t too large or too small. Most residents would say it is just right for safe, comfortable living. It is a friendly community with 7500 residents inhabiting 2800 homes and has a very low crime rate.

Halifax, MA uses the open town meeting form of government led by a board of selectmen, and a town administrator. Halifax has its own police and fire departments, an ambulance service with hospitals in nearby Plymouth and Brockton. Halifax has a post office and the Holmes Public Library.

The Halifax Youth and Recreation Commission operates a community gymnasium, several recreational fields, basketball, and athletic courts, and the Gordon Riker Wheels Park for extreme athletes like on skates and skateboards.
Halifax, MA has a public beach on West Lake, and a boat landing on each on the twin Monponsett Lakes. Both East and West Monponsett Lakes offer good to excellent fishing for largemouth bass and are popular bass tournament sites. Panfishing for white perch and sunfish is also good. Water skiers and jet skis limit the best fishing times to morning or evening hours. Both Lakes are popular with boaters and Jet Skiers.
